The final game of Odyssey LRP ran this August and the world entered a new age. I cannot possibly say it better than the games team themselves:
“There is a time for many words, and there is a time for sleep.” – Homer, The Odyssey
For us, Odyssey is now at an end.
For some of us, it has been a ten year journey from the initial planning meetings, so not so different from Odysseus’ journey after all. And there have been some cyclopes, people turned into pigs and sea monsters along the way across the wine-dark sea too.
But there have also been stories. Such stories.
Our thanks go out to the entirety of the team that delivered this game – from our rocky first few events to the climax. Some were involved in a handful; some were there at the beginning and then again at the end; some have stayed the course right round the Zodiac wheel. Our thanks to every one of you. For we have come home to Ithica again, and now it’s time for us to rest.
“Why cover the same ground again? … It goes against my grain to repeat a tale told once, and told so clearly.” – Homer, The Odyssey
We will not be providing any information about “what happens next” in the Middle Sea – those stories are yours now, five hundred separate canons each as equal as the other. We hope that the Middle Sea has given you memories to last five hundred lifetimes and that you will look back on them in times to come and be glad you were among the heroes.
For you most assuredly were, and now the Middle Sea belongs to all of you.
